Privacy Policy
This policy explains how vatcalculator-za.co.za ("we", "us"), run by Word2Mouse in Johannesburg, South Africa, handles information when you use this website.
Summary
- The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Amounts you type are not sent to us or stored.
- We use advertising and analytics cookies only if you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Current status (10 October 2026): Google Analytics 4 is active (only after you accept). Advertising (Google AdSense) is not yet switched on. The advertising sections below describe how it will work once enabled; until then, no advertising cookies are set even if you accept.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use:
- Strictly necessary storage: your cookie choice is saved in your browser's local storage (key
site-consent) so we don't ask again on every page. It contains only your choice and the date. - Advertising cookies (only with consent): set by Google and its partners to show and measure ads (see below).
- Analytics cookies (only with consent): set by Google Analytics to count visits and understand how the site is used.
We use Google Consent Mode. Until you accept, Google tags are told that advertising and analytics storage are denied.
Advertising: Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to show ads, which helps keep this site free.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (opens in new tab).
- Other third-party vendors or ad networks may also use cookies to serve ads on our site, where permitted by your consent choices.
The DoubleClick DART cookie
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting Google's ad and content network privacy settings at adssettings.google.com (opens in new tab).
To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services (opens in new tab).
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are used and how the site performs. The Google Analytics script is loaded only after you click "Accept all"; if you reject, or have not chosen yet, it is not loaded and no data is sent to Google Analytics. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and simple usage events (for example that a calculation was made, with the amount grouped into a broad range such as "100-1k"; the amounts you type are never sent). We do not use it to identify you personally. You can withdraw consent at any time with "Cookie settings".
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and message. We use them only to reply and keep them only as long as needed for that purpose.
Your rights under POPIA (South Africa)
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), you have the right to be told that your personal information is being collected; to ask whether we hold personal information about you and to access it; to ask us to correct or delete it; to object to its processing, including for direct marketing; and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) (opens in new tab).
Your rights under UK and EU GDPR
If you are in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you have rights under the UK GDPR or EU GDPR, including the right to access, rectify or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time (use "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page). Our lawful basis for advertising and analytics cookies is your consent. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (opens in new tab) or to your local EU data protection authority (opens in new tab).
International transfers
Google may process data outside South Africa, the UK or the EU. Google describes its safeguards in its own privacy policy.

We will update this page if our practices change and revise the date above.
